Summer is almost here, and for the Rogue Valley that means its time to gather up the kids and go pick strawberries at Fort Vannoy Farms in Grants Pass OR. The strawberry season usually begins the end of May and runs 6-8 weeks depending on the weather. For the 2024 u pick strawberries, Fort Vannoy Farms opens Friday 5/24.
Fort Vannoy Farms is the most popular and largest farm in Southern Oregon where you can pick your own strawberries. People drive from Medford, Central Point, Jacksonville, and even Ashland to pick strawberries with their kids at Fort Vannoy Farms.
FVF plants several varieties of strawberries. Chances are you will have a couple of different types to choose from depending on what is ripe when you visit.
The staff is super friendly and encourages you to taste the strawberries as you go. The strawberries are sold by the pound. They provide you with picking buckets. Once you park in their lot, head over to the tents on the side on the field to check in. You’ll pay at these tents as you leave.
Our family is loving having this yearly tradition of heading out to the farm and picking strawberries with our kid. Picking your own strawberries with children is a great opportunity to capture some quick quintessential summer photos- especially while the kids are small. Fort Vannoy Farms u-pick strawberry farm in Grants Pass has a mountain view for a backdrop you’ll be hard pressed to beat.
Fort Vannoy Farms is located at 5791 Lower River Road Grants Pass, Oregon, 97526. Their u-pick strawberry field is typically open 8am-noon on Fridays and Saturdays while the season lasts. Their Facebook Page has the most up-to-date info so its a good idea to take a look there before you head out.
You can pay with cash, card, or EBT. For 2024, The u-pick strawberries are $3.50/pound with discounts given on 50lbs or more.
Fort Vannoy Farms also has a farm stand where you can purchase pre-picked berries and other seasonal produce
Pro-tip go early and bring some water. Its always warmer once you get out and start picking.
