Open Farm Day is Saturday October 26, 2024 at Sanctuary One! 10AM-2PM. This is your last chance this year to tour the farm. It’s free to visit, but they ask you register online so they know how many to expect.

Sanctuary One is out in the Applegate Valley not too far from Jacksonville, OR. It provides a safe home to rescued farm animals and household pets. They work to get the animals back into good physical and mental health, and most are able to ultimately be adopted out.

Three sheep make Sanctuary One their new home after being rescued by law enforcement. Once they are rehabilitated, they will be available for adoption.

They offer farm tours April-October: including homeschool groups, school groups, and service learning groups and are inclusive to all. They have a large garden area for volunteer programs which donates fresh produce to ACCESS.

Sanctuary One’s Open Farm Day is a great opportunity to come out and tour the farm. You’ll get to meet the farm animals (and the cats, & dogs), visit the garden, explore the lavender labyrinth, shop local vendors, buy lunch from the food trucks onsite, and lots of other fun happenings. They end their farm tour season each year with Open Farm Day the last Saturday in October.

Sanctuary One is such a special place. They do a phenomenal job educating visitors on the importance of treating animals, the earth, and each other with the respect and kindness they all deserve. I hope you’ll get a chance to go out and visit them. If you’ve got extra time, the farm is just a few minutes away from Applegate Lake and from McKee Bridge (covered bridge).

I spent the drive home trying to convince my husband that we need a goat. We don’t have a farm, but just look at those sweet faces.
